Israel’s dangerous leftists play with fire – literally

Watching arson

Watching the arson

Continuing on with our series on actions by Israel’s dangerous (not deluded) leftists, these “activists”, colluding with local Arabs, set fire to security equipment belonging to the community of Eli in Samaria.  The fire rapidly spread to the holy olive trees of the neighouring village of Karayut, but instead of rushing to extinguish the fire that threatened the houses of their Palestinian friends, these activists just filmed the whole event, probably hoping to “prove” how the eeevil settlers set fire to holy Palestinian olive trees. Just taking pictures, not action

A group of Arabs and left-wing provocateurs entered the Jewish town of Eli on Tuesday and started several fires, which subsequently spread to their own nearby olive groves.

The incident, which occurred Tuesday morning, is not the first in which Arabs from the adjacent village of Karayut have infiltrated Eli’s perimeter to commit arson according to security officials who went to investigate the fire.

“We saw smoke near our security road shortly after 11:00 and went to investigate,” related a security official from Eli who spoke to Israel National News on condition of anonymity.

“At first we saw nothing to say the fire was man made, but we suspected arson because it is an area where fires have been set to damage our security equipment in the past. Then we saw a second fire, closer to Karayut, which is about 500 meters away from Eli,” the official explained.

Eli’s security team reportedly raced to the scene of the second blaze to find that the flames were spreading to Arab olive groves and advancing on the village of Karayut itself.

“We went to the site of the second fire and immediately saw it was arson – tires had been set on fire – and that it had spread into the olive groves and was advancing on the [Arab] village itself. There were Arabs and leftists who were there before us but who were standing around filming [the fire] instead of trying to put it out,” the security official explained.

According to the official, Karayut’s Muktar [village elder -ed.] arrived with leftist supporters and proceeded to blame the residents of Eli for setting the olive groves on fire, all the while watching Eli’s security team fight to put the fire out.

“The local muktar brought his B’tzelem [leftist NGO -ed.] friends and stood around doing nothing while we put the fire out. Of course, he blamed us – the people from Eli – for the fire. That was the plan. No one from Eli has a reason to be out there [in the Arab groves], or to start a fire,” the security official told INN.

“We have a very sophisticated radar system around the perimeter [of Eli]. We reviewed the logs and no one from Eli had gone out there,” he added.

Binyamin Regional Council Chairman Avi Roeh condemned the event as a reckless media stunt using arson that could have ended in a loss of human life.

“Today’s event could have led to the loss of lives, both Jewish and Arab, and I condemn those who lit the fire and am shocked villagers would risk their lives simply to create a media event, in order to portray the Jewish residents in a negative light. At the same time, I commend Eli’s security team for preventing a tragedy,” Roeh said.

Anything for the cause, according to these extreme leftists.  A win-win situation for them. It’s totally sickening.

On a similar level, we have Haaretz (aka Israel’s Palestinian paper) gleefully reporting  that Police arrest operators of extreme right website over calls to violence.  What we do not see is any followup from Haaretz.  The mountain begat a molehill, and the “extreme rightists” were not so extreme, so violent, or even so arrested in the end. That is, they were arrested, but were released without charge.

At 4:30 this morning a staggering 200 elite police officers were mobilized in cooperation with the Shabak, in an operation to detain 4 law-abiding citizens in their homes and to confiscate a small number of computers in the Shomron community of Yitzhar, after a prolonged search. No reason for this enormous waste of police time and manpower has yet been given, and all 4 men have now been released without charge. These men were simply practicing their legitimate right to free speech by broadcasting legally over the Internet. This police action raises great concern about the right of free expression in this country while Israeli citizens are being detain and harassed for publishing their views on the internet.

But more importantly, the people of Israel will quite rightly be asking where this apparent show of police strength came from. In Jerusalem and across Judea and Samaria, an extreme-left coalition of foreigners, anarchists and local Arab have been wreaking havoc and perpetrating repeated violent assaults on Jewish residents of those areas.

Indeed. But Haaretz and its fellow-travellers will never let a fact get in the way of their prejudices.

  1. reality says:

interesting that it didn’t make ynet only arutz 7 – obviously ynet cannot print something that will harm their readership. By the way the rightists yesterday brought about 100 sudanese to the fancy shmancy swimming pool in ramat Aviv & when the citizens there started screaming about the “cleanliness’, what a cheek etc they were told “why are you complaining? you’re always going on about human rights so here they are the people who need human rights this time in YOUR town!” brilliant!
