BDS craziness of the day

Queen Elizabeth's 35 karat pink diamond

Queen Elizabeth’s 35 karat pink diamond to mark her Jubilee

A small item in the Algemeiner caught my eye this morning, and it goes to illustrate the utter madness of the BDS (boycott divest sanctions) hate brigade.

A huge pink diamond, 35.6 karats, has been given to Queen Elizabeth as a gift on the occasion of her Jubilee, 60 years on the throne. But the diamond has become the target of anti-Israel activists because it was donated by family who “supports Israeli soldiers”.

The 35.60 karat diamond placed in the Tower of London to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne, is now the subject of anti-Israel activists who want the Queen to decline the gift because of the diamond’s affiliation with the Steinmetz family, which helps support Israeli soldiers.

“We are shocked and disappointed by the decision of De Beers to present the Queen of England with a diamond manufactured by the Steinmetz Diamond company,” said Helmi Sammoni of Gaza. “We the Sammoni family call on the Queen of England and the British people to decline this gift.”

The activists are calling the stone  – dubbed the “Steinmetz Forevermark Jubilee Diamond” –  a blood diamond, despite the stone having no link to the globally accepted definition of the term.  Blood diamonds are stones which help African rebels finance their movements, which often involve child soldiers, torture, and rape.

The whole issue is not only laughable, but is also negligible in that it is highly unlikely the Queen will either hear of this plea or pay any attention to it.  But it goes to show the utter insanity of the Israel-haters who scramble and scrape the barrel in order to find the slightest possible link to anything positive about Israel – and then demand it be boycotted or banned.

Long may the BDS-ers waste their time on such inanities while we continue to grow and build.

And as “Shimona” in the Algemeiner comments:

If Her Majesty doesn’t want it, I’d be happy to take it off her hands;-)

Take a number and get in line. 🙂

what a waste! They could’ve presented it to Israel who would’ve sold it to cover some of our overdraft) Personally I don’t think the queen deserves it considering she hasn’t even bothered to show her face once in our fair country -& her mother in law is buried here!(perhaps thats why!) 🙂

Ouch! LOL! (re her mother in law) 🙂

I quite agree about the Queen not having visited here. It’s an overt insult. She’s been to almost every country in the world.

      • Debi says:

But we don’t really want the Queen to visit – it’s bad enough when the whole city closes down for Obama, Putin and the likes ….. 😉

For Her Maj we’ll make that sacrifice. Or rather, you will. I will be sitting pretty in Petach Tikva. :-). You’re welcome to take refuge here.

Thanks, might just do that (Putin will be here on the 25th-26th June, lucky I don’t have a booking at the King David at that time!)

The lit of the companies , organizations needs to be created (noy just names but icons of the business an the stamp on it or near it – “No JEWS ALLOWED BY US” black on yellow. That list or parts of the list needs to be published in local newspapers, signs glued near offices of the companies that participating in boycott. Just publish that type of articles where readers agree anyway is not going to help.

Hello Anna, thank you for your comment and welcome to my blog. You make an excellent point, and I like the inventiveness of your suggestion. The only trouble might be if those businesses claim libel or slander because they do allow Jews in – just not the “wrong” kind of Jews. It’s a very fine line we have to walk. However, naming and shaming is an excellent method in principle.

The most effective way is graphical and simple – that’s what Geert Wilders did with the movie. And “intellectuals” were crtisizing the simplicity which was comletely irrelevant as that was precisely the purpose make it simple. Reading a lot of articles – and all of them are excellent but when you’ve got a lot of words – people are just people – and they tend to listen only to propoganda (I hate this word but that’s the way people are getting the most direct influence). Breitbat TV, Wilders – they know it an they use it.
Those companies are not allowed all the jews but only those who are with them – nazi camps had those too. Agree – it could be a better way of signing the black on yellow sign.
