Wishing Merry Christmas to my Christian friends

I would like to wish all my Christian readers and friends a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2018 be a year of peace, happiness and prosperity for all of us.

Christmas is celebrated somewhat differently in Israel to the Western world:

The Jerusalem Post has a lovely photo essay of Christmas celebrations across the Middle East.

Israel provides its Christian community with trees for their Christmas decorations:

And here are some Christmas messages from Israel:

Here is some good news for all of us:

And here is the Christmas message from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu:

I echo the PM’s prayers and blessings and say Amen! I hope that you have a peaceful, joyful festive season and I wish Merry Christmas to all those celebrating!

To all those celebrating, I wish you a merry Christmas and Happy new year.To those who have never experienced it,there is nothing to compare celebrating a festival in the actual historical place where it all began!Come and celebrate here in Israel, and take in the experience of the Holy Land.

Well, the weather finally dipped below 20°c today and it started pouring. We desperately need the rain so we’re not complaining. Though it would’ve been nice not to receive the month’s rainfall on one day!

Just hope you don’t receive the same grinch-like response (I’m sure you won’t) that Mo Farah got for tweeting Merry Christmas to his twitter followers. Bear in mind he is (at least by origin) Muslim: he got a lot of grief online…and a lot of support.

And this is a man with 4 Olympic Gold Medals, 3 World Golds and a World Silver: someone who gave lots of joy to athletics fans, just as much as Usain Bolt (his good friend).

And a Happy (secular) New year to you!
